Stumbling stones | Moncalvo

On Sunday 26 January 2020, in Vicolo 27 gennaio, for the "Memorial Day", the presentation and installation (the first in the whole of Asti region) of four stumbling blocks was held.

It is a project by the artist Gunter Demnig who decided to place simple brass blocks, with the names of the deportees, on the thresholds of the houses where they were captured.

The stones that have been laid are four, in memory of the four people captured in Moncalvo and barbarously killed in the death camps, namely: Clelia Vitale, born in 1878, arrested on May 24, 1944, deported to Auschwitz and murdered on July 15, 1944; Adua Nunes, born in 1902, arrested on March 21, 1944, deported to Auschwitz and murdered on December 31, 1944; Alberto Colombo, born in 1875, arrested on May 19, 1944, deported to Auschwitz and assassinated on September 1, 1944; Amerigo Colombo, born in 1913, arrested on May 19, 1944, deported to Auschwitz and assassinated on September 1, 1944.

The event was wanted by the Norzi family in collaboration with the municipal administration of Moncalvo.
