Highlights

18th century-building on late medieval plant.

Via Testafochi, named after Colonel Testafochi, houses the homonymous palace. The palace dates back to the 18th century and is the work of the architect Magnocavallo, and is characterized by arcades, exposed bricks and Roman capitals, some original.

The palace hosted the Testafochi family until the last heir, who donated it to the Moncalvese community. In the courtyard there is a small, but suggestive, chapel with a statue of the Holy Virgin dating back to the twentieth century, framed by original Roman columns and capitals found at the Gessi locality.

This majestic building housed, following the departure of the Colonel, hosted the Legally Recognized Middle School and the S. Tomaso D’Aquino Boarding School, run by the nuns, and subsequently the Unified Middle School.

Today it is home to some voluntary associations of Moncalvo.
